I use UnboundID Java SDK to access Active Directory. At a customer site, when I issue the following query to port 389 server:
baseDN =
scope = SubTree
Filter = (sAMAccountName=bob)
I get two responses. According to the customer, one of them is from a "child domain". It is possible that they have some type of a load balancer that is redirecting port 389 traffic to port 3268. Otherwise, sAMAccountName is supposed to be unique in a domain controller. When try try using ldp.exe, they only get one response for the same query. How do I detect that it is a Global Catalog/what is going on?
