From what I understand, there is two ways to get access to files in Windows, the first one being with a normal drive letter C:Windows
and the other one being using paths such as DeviceHarddiskVolume2Windows
.
What is the difference between these two ways ? Is there an advantage/difference on using Device???
over the drive letter to access files ?
Also, can you access DeviceHarddiskVolume?
paths using the windows explorer is it only available for WINAPI functions?

One easy difference is that you can use one of the notations if there is no drive letter available. But there are also more options like NTFS junctions. No directly related but this might be interesting regardless.
