I am trying to use an IF based vlookup, i.e. i have in one column list of trucks. In the other column I have a list of people who update certain data about those trucks in their own working files (say around 5 people). Each truck gets assigned to one person to update. They all have their own files but all files have the same template. Now i need to get, say, the dispatch date of a truck, but I need to use a IF based formula to choose which file to lookup from using the person's name. Is there an easier workaround for this? When I use IF this person, then vlookup this file, if this then vlookup this.. and so on and so forth.. the formula becomes huge. Especially if the number of persons become high.
