WSL issue: cannot execute C:WindowsSystem32Bash.exe from elevated PowerShell - “access is denied” - works in normal CMD prompt (no admin rights)
Is it in any way possible to uninstall PowerShell from Vista?Execute command prompt file (.cmd) from within a PowerShell script?Bash on Windows / Windows Subsytem for Linux (WSL) not installing correctly / hangsUnable to uninstall Universal Apps through PowerShellHow do I install and import the Powershell Community Extensions for a normal user?Windows 10 inbox will not syncWSL Bash doesn't startOpenSSH Server for Windows 10 - Could not enter anything in Ubuntu terminal launched from cmd / powershell SSH sessionHow to Always run Windows Store App as AdministratorCannot type in cmd- or Powershell-window when run from Powershell as different user in Windows 10
I have an issue with WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) in PowerShell. If I run the Ubuntu 18.04 LTS app (the UWP app) it works as expected. However, if I run and run Bash.exe from an elevated PowerShell prompt, it fails with simply:
I opened C:WindowsSystem32 then took ownership and granted Full-Rights to Bash.exe for myself. However, the issue persists. How can I fix this? I have also tried:
- Uninstalling the Ubuntu UWP App, removing WSL via add/remove features
- Re-adding WSL via add/remove and reinstalling the Ubuntu UWP App: no change
Update: I have found that I can run Bash.exe in a normal (non-admin) CMD or PowerShell prompt! Weird.
Bump: anyone?

What commands are you running exactly. You should not have to take ownership of any files to run the WSL instance of your choice
