I want to be able to access PC1 on ROUTER1 to PC2 on ROUTER2 on LOCAL.
So I connected both ROUTER1 and ROUTER2 LAN.
I found out that the decision to traffic ROUTER2 to INTERNET can go through ROUTER1 WAN.

What is the PROPER setting to separate both connections so PCX on ROUTERX will go only with WANX?

  • When you connect Router 1 to Router 2 through the lan ports. All your doing is creating a switch and an access point out of Router 2 by default. So yes PC1 and PC2 Will be able to communicate with each other.

  • But I want PC1 connected to ROUTER1 will only use WAN of ROUTER1 and block it from traffic to internet with WAN2 (which is internet port for ROUTER2)

  • Then you need to put the 2nd router on a different subnet. Look up how subnets work
