Registering host IP in multiple WINS servers

Is there any reason to run a WINS server on a small network? Can ping device from one computer and not the otherCan't ping network machines by hostname when behind wireless router on university network (only IP)Routing error to WINS name without .localTroubleshooting intermittent server connectionISP DNS conflicts with local DDNSResolving DNS names on non-domain PCsWindows 7 DNS lookups failing and fixing themselvesPrimary router routes everything through secondary routerD-Link DIR-615 intermittently fails to respect static DHCP address assignment

I'm in an environment where there is a primary and secondary WINS server registered to each PC via DHCP. On some PCs, server1 is primary and on others server2 is primary (presumably for load distribution). A problem arises when the PC's IP address lease expires and a new IP is assigned. Only the primary WINS server sees this update, and it can take 10 minutes or longer for the secondary server to sync. That means other PCs with the primary/secondary swapped ping the old IP address when pinging by host name. Running nbtstat -RR re-registers the PC with WINS but, AFAIK, only for the primary server, not the secondary (and I see no way to specify a server using this command).

Is there an easy resolution to this problem?
