How to time machine backup to manually created sparse bundle file
Time Machine (OSX) doesn't back up files in Mount Point or Disk Image FileMounting a sparsebundle in OS X (specifically Time Machine)Restoring external drive from time machine backupHow do you access the contents of a mounted DMG drive mounted through hdiutil and diskmoutBackup sshfs volume via Time Machine on macosxHow to use my new external HD for Time Machine backupHow do I reformat my encrypted key drive to ExFAT on my MAC?Stop Mac OS X disk image from being mounted automatically when files on them are accessedEncryption of Time Machine backup went wrongLightroom Classic CC unable to access photos on an OSX FUSE-mounted Veracrypt volume
I have a exFAT formatted external drive that I would like to use with Time Machine for macos. I cannot use this drive directly with Time Machine, because it was encrypted using third party software (Veracrypt), and is mounted in a custom location.
Because Time Machine does not recognize the external drive, I have created a Macos-extended format sparse bundle file using the Disk Utility, and put that file on the external drive.
When I mount this file, it shows up as a external drive in finder but Time Machine does not recognize it. Is there any way I can get Time Machine to recognize this file, or is there a better way to go about this?
