Sometimes, while trying to connect to WiFi on my Windows 10 laptop, the connection won't complete with the following predictable pattern:

  1. Windows says "checking network requirements" for a very long time

  2. "Checking network requirements" disappears, and the progress dots proceed for a very long time

  3. The WiFi connections screen disappears and the "no network devices" icon appears in the taskbar

  4. Repeat #2

  5. Windows reports "Cannot connect to this network"

WiFi Connection Pattern

After retrying the connection several times, this process will stick at #3 until the machine restarts, and the whole process can begin again.

This happens at various networks around the U.S. indiscriminately (home, work, airports, hotels), although I have noticed that it does happen more in particular locations within the same network (e.g., a colleague's office at work, the bedroom at home). Due to this occurring on so many networks, I think it's my problem, but how can I diagnose and fix it?

Oh, and I've tried updating and rolling back drivers, and nothing happened, good or bad.
