I can search by content, any type of document other than PDFs in Server 2012. But on a Windows 10 machine I can search all document s including PDFs by content. All search and indexing options are identical. I cannot determine what the difference is.

are you testing with the same pdf's ? some pdfs have embedded text which is extracted for search purposes (can test with pdf2text); other pdfs just have the rendered images of txt used for display.... they need an OCR component in order to be made searchable which isn't usually don't for 'search in file' type options (not sure how win10 or server 12 specifically handles those cases).

are you testing with the same pdf's ? some pdfs have embedded text which is extracted for search purposes (can test with pdf2text); other pdfs just have the rendered images of txt used for display.... they need an OCR component in order to be made searchable which isn't usually don't for 'search in file' type options (not sure how win10 or server 12 specifically handles those cases).
