BACKGROUND: I'm guessing this could possibly be a common problem because of late, several discount software websites have sprung up (such as www.lowpriceskey.com, impkeys.co, etc.) offering "licenses" of Windows 10, MS Office, antivirus, etc. at huge discounts (like around 80% off). So I went ahead and purchased a license for "Office 2016 Professional for lifetime access" at a ridiculous price of $19.99!

THE ISSUE/QUESTIONS: I've been given a login ID and password, but I'm not able to edit my information, along with other data points (see below) which have raised my suspicions, specifically:

  1. Is this license legit, pirated, or in some sort of "grey area"?

  2. This appears to be a child ID, so does that mean that someone else (possibly the seller) has admin access
over my applications and therefore can access all my data via my
apps and whatever I upload to the cloud? If that's true, this would be a huge
    privacy concern
    .

DATA POINTS: After I log into my account, I see the following in my dashboard:

  1. License is listed as "Office 365 A1 Plus for faculty" (see Pic1)

  2. Dashboard lists "Apps with access to your data: 26" (see Pic2 and Pic3)

  3. Under Security and privacy, it shows "View your organization's Privacy Statement" (see Pic4)

  4. Pic5 is what my Profile Page looks like

  5. When I go to "Update Profile" from Profile Page, I'm not allowed to change anything (see Pic6)

Not one I've ever looked into before, but to me it looks like the sort of deal you shouldn't walk away from.... you should run.
