Judging by this question over at AskUbuntu, Sox seems to be by far the most popular method of voice masking on Ubuntu and searching for any other voice masks for Linux points me to little to nothing. However, after using Sox I have noticed the following:

  • It does not seem to be intended to be used as a voice mask; many
features are either irrelevant or unhelpful.

  • The features that are relevant are few in number. In terms of commands, I can only really count pitch, reverb, bass,
    treble, and chorus.

  • Of the commands that appear to be useful, few increase privacy.

This leads me to ask - are there any better programs for this purpose? And are any of them inteded to be used as voice masks?
