so i have an up to date hp laptop running windows 10 and im occasionally having issues opening .rar files with the preloaded 7z file manager, i will get a message saying "cannot open genericfilename.rar as archive"

ive tried the "open with" (to ensure using the file manager program not the other icon as that doesnt work either) as well as "extract" options when right clicking, and have tried double clicking the file. i have tried redownloading the file thinking the download may be incomplete

now i know what you may be thinking at this point, as its what ive found on my own and what i assumed, the files aren't corrupted, per say, as my current fix for this issue is putting the file on a memory stick, plugging into my also up to date, also hp brand netbook, and extracting it with the same preloaded 7z file manager, back on the stick and into the main machine (-.-), that part i found out because because i had a file i could no longer redownload on a backup drive, and thought it was just 7z, not knowing the netbook also came with 7z lol, but it worked, and continues to do so, as this seems to be happening more often (i play fallout new vegas, as old as it is, and people are still releasing content for it, so 7zip gets a bit of a workout)

thanks guys!
