Sign user out on Restart or Shutdown from the Start menu in Windows 10 (Fast Startup off)
The Next CEO of Stack OverflowWill a scheduled task be blocked if another user is logged in?Shutdown button (Start Menu & Login Screen) logs out but doesn't shut down in Windows 10 Desktop PCHow to remove shutdown option in start menu of Windows 10Shutdown still available on Ctrl+Alt+Del screen despite being disabled from group policy on Windows 10Scheduled task failing when being deployed by GPO on some PC'sTask Scheduler - scheduled task to run as SYSTEM not fireWindows 10: Force sign-out of user upon shutdown/restart'New' tags on Windows 10 Start Menu items keep returningWindows 10 Start Menu on Domain ComputersRestrict or prefer specific session ID for scheduled tasks that start interactive desktop login tasks
I find it incredibly irritating that if I select Restart or Shut Down from the Start Menu on Windows 10, it still leaves the user logged in. I have three profiles on my computer, I've turned off Fast startup on all three. If I'm on one, restart, and log into another, the first one is still logged in. It is creating some issues with Task Scheduler in addition to that annoying "another user is already logged in" when you go to restart/shutdown.
I know I can use ALT + F4 from the desktop when I need to restart/shutdown and that does take care of the issue. However, sometimes I forget due to decades of habit. Then I run into an issue with some scheduled tasks because the task is already running under a different profile.
How do I turn this behavior off so that when I restart or shutdown from the start menu, it logs the current user out?
