I am currently using Excel to write test plans with sections and test cases, where there are section numbers, sub-section number, test case numbers, and test case steps. I was wondering if there was a way to auto increment section and step number in the column based on the row's formatting.
The use case is the ability to copy the existing rows and inserting them in between or after the existing rows and to have the section and step numbers automatically adjust.
Is this possible within Excel relatively simply, or would it require VBA scripting or using an entirely new tool/add-on?
